How to wear a mask
Suitable usage and disposal are necessary for any form of mask to ensure they are safe and to prevent any increase in transmission.
The following details on the proper use of masks is taken from health-care procedures.
- Carefully position the mask, ensuring it protects the mouth and nose, and firmly tie it to eliminate any holes between the face and the mask.
- Do not touch the mask while wearing it.
- Use the correct procedure to remove the mask: Do not touch the mask’s front but untie it from the back.
- Clean hands with alcohol-based hand rubbing or soap and water after removal or when the used mask is unintentionally touched, whether the hands are clearly dirty.
- Replace the masks with a new clean, dry mask as soon as they are damp.
- Do not use the single-use masks again.
- Dispose of single-use masks immediately after removal after through use.
